There are many trendy areas around Calgary’s downtown core, each with a unique vibe and special character. One such neighbourhood is Kensington. Here, residential community meets shopping district and restaurant destination.
It’s a community unto its own, vibrant and full of life.

Vendome Café @vendomeyyc
This locally sourced European style cafe is a local favourite to eat and catch up with friends. Vendome has a great array of breakfast options, pastries and an excellent coffee bar.
Brasserie Kensington Follow @the_brasskens
I love this restaurant. Comfortable, reliable, great food, great service and menu. Local craft beer, French wine & seasonal bistro fare, plus daily happy hour, in modern-rustic digs.
Muku Japanese Ramen
Here you will find a variety of authentic Japanese ramen. Rich and full, the broths are flavourful and compliment the fresh in-house noodles. Try their signature Tonkostu Ramen Kanban or one of their ninja soups for lunch.
Osteria Chef’s Table Follow @osteriachefstableyyc
Combining old and new techniques, Osteria is a fine dining Italian restaurant. This fusion was brought in by new management, giving it a fresh breath of air and an updated look. I recommend trying the Calamari Fritti for an appetizer and Gnocchi Gorgonzola for Pasta.
Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey Follow @haydenblockyyc
Texas BBQ and hand-crafted whiskey cocktails. Any of the smoked meat options you get is served by the ½ lb, which is a great way to share among friends. Don’t miss out on their amazing sides, like the smokestack corn and bacon wrapped corn on the cob.
There’s always something new opening up in this area of the city. I love to come here on the weekends to stroll the shops and enjoy the activities.
Hexagon Board Game Café Follow @thehexcafe
Play an old favourite or discover a new board game, Hexagon has over 600+ games to enjoy! Whether you’re coming in for a coffee, an afternoon of board games – or both – you’re sure to have a lot of fun!
Regal Cat Café Follow @ regalcatcafe
Love cats and coffee? Then this place is puuurrfect for you! Visiting the Regal Cat café gives cat lovers the time to connect with kitties and have a cup of coffee. Don’t forget to try out their Kitty Macarons, the are pawsitively delicious!
Floatlife Follow at @floatlifeyyc
Have you ever considered floating as a way to relax? Did you know that there are multiple health benefits from floating? It’s a strange concept that I have not seen in many places, but I gave it try and really enjoyed it. I recommend looking through their website as they have good articles that might answer some questions you may have about this whole experience.
