The holiday season in Calgary is a time for family, friends, fun and festivity. In the weeks leading up to Christmas the city transforms into a winter wonderland filled with sparking lights, outdoor skating rinks, wondrous window displays and seasonal performances. Discover some of Calgary’s best events, deals and specials from the city’s infamous Zoo Lights display to local craft markets, there’s something for everyone.


Zoolights at Calgary Zoo

Visit the Calgary Zoo to view their annual Christmas light display. Over 1.5 million twinkling lights line pathways and twist around trees, forming animals, shapes and flashing to music. Along with admiring the beautiful scenery, you can glide across the skating rink and meet Santa.

When: Nov 25 – Jan 8, 6pm – 9pm

Cost: General Admission $14.99, child 3 – 15 $11.99, infant 2 & under free.

Celebrate the holidays with an outdoor skate! Open mid-December through February.

A Christmas Carol by Theatre Calgary

A festive classic, Theatre Calgary brings the Charles Dickens novel to life just in time for the holiday season.

Christmas at Spruce Meadows

Spruce Meadows uses a quarter of a million lights to blanket their entire facility. Hop in a car and drive the two-kilometre route through the grounds to see their elaborate display.

When: December 10 – January 8, 5:00pm – 10:00pm

Fish Creek Provincial Park

What better way to enjoy the winter landscape than hiking, snow shoeing or cross country skiing.

When: Day light hours

Cost: Free

Canada Olympic Park

A truly world class winter destination right in the middle of the city. COP is the place to be for all kinds of winter activities including skiing, snowboarding, bobsleighing and tubing.
