With its captivating music, high-flying acrobats and majestic horses, Cavalia Odysseo has mesmerized Calgary.

Cavalia’s new production features 67 horses and 48 artists that express the bond between man and horse.  Co-founders Daniel Gauthier and Guy Laliberte of Cirque Du Soleil ensured this wasn’t just any type of Cirque show.  It’s an experience to remember.

I attended the show on a Wednesday night and even as I walked to find my seat, I felt the crowd give off a wave of excitement and energy.

The show began with a few trivia questions about Odysseo that the audience was able to participate in.  There was a lot of interesting facts about the horses that were a part of the production and the fun in interacting to answer the questions made my experience that much more enjoyable.

As the show started, I was fascinated by the horses that roamed throughout the stage.  The massive screen that crossed the stage made the 3D effect so much more real and took the audience through different themes of a 3D forest, mountain range and even a cliff side waterfall.

The horses and actors performed with grace while a live band from each corner of the stage played beautiful and enchanting music.  There were acrobats that defied gravity by doing summersaults, flips and coordinated stunts with the horses.  This had guests on the edges of their seats.

My favorite part of the show was when the stage filled with water and the horses ran freely across the area.  It had such a dramatic effect that showcased how beautiful the horses are.

It was a spectacular ending to a wonderful show.

I highly recommend this experience!  The show can be viewed at Canada Olympic Park, which is located at 88 Canada Olympic Road SW, Calgary, AB T3B 5R5 under the white big top.  Odysseo is now playing until June 1st and tickets starts at $40.00 and go up to $140.00.  This is one fabulous show that’s a must see.
